My exam by the technician was thorough. After Dr. Pereira reviewed it, we discussed the possible outcomes of cataract surgery at this early stage, and I decided to wait until my vision is more obviously diminished. I'll continue with my annual exam next spring, sooner if needed, and decide what to do as it becomes clear (or actually less clear, visually!). I was very pleased with Dr. Pereira's open and candid demeanor, very professional yet also personable.

I was seen by Dr. Heffenen on June 6th for a clogged tear duct. We met, talked about my condition for less than a minute. Then he asked me to lean my head back as if he was going to look at my eye. I had noticed him touching some instruments in a autoclave tray without gloves or even washing his hands after he had just shook my hand, then as I thought he was just going to just check my eye, he pushed a wire through my tear duct with no warning. I have a high pain tolerance, but the pain became excruciating. then water filled up my nose and throat and I was afraid I was going to choke but didn't want to move because I had a wire in my tear duct. I still didn't see where Dr. H. had gloved up for this procedure. Had I been told what he was going to do, I could have mentally prepared myself and been more relaxed. The procedure was like being water boarded but with pain. After he had finished, he said "That's what you came for" and left the room. The entire time in the room was about 3 minutes. My eye is still watering and I'm praying that it heals because I do not want to go back to Dr. Heffernen. again.

The staff was friendly and professional. They were excellent at easing anxiety and preparing me for the procedures. They are welcoming to family support in pre and post op. All aspects of the experience were thorough and clearly explained.
