I had a pleasant time at Hoss Lee Academy and would probably go back in the future. My host was very friendly and kind, but was a but rough during the hair cut compared to when I go to other places. My scalp was pretty sore after, and my haircut is a bit uneven, but I knew I was working with students and felt like it was a learning experience on both ends. I would highly recommend hoss Lee for those who want to experiment on a budget and fully understand they are working with students.

I want to stay off by saying that I understand a student worked on my hair.
the gal who was working on me was the sweetest and is still learning the ropes. But I am so depressed with my hair. I cried in my car on the way home. I still paid and left tip because I appreciate the time they took to try to “fix” my hair but I won’t be coming back :(
. I asked for a dark, mushroom brown starting from black grown out virgin roots and processed brown hair. So about four inches black virgin hair and the rest is brown on my medium length hair.?
They started by bleaching just my virgin black grown out roots with an 30 vol, not the ends at all. I was a little intimidated when I heard that cuz again my grown out roots were virgin so they would lightened quite a bit. It came out very bright yellow. I began to be afraid my hair wouldn’t take the color they planned to add since it was freshly bleached and super light form untouched virgin black hair. To be fair to them, that is the dark mushroom brown color was the color I was looking for but again my hair was already light yellow/light brassy blond at this point compared to my now darker brown ends.
The color did not take and it left me with the top half of my hair a light ashy blonde and the bottom half of dark ash brown. It looked horrible. They were closing so the teachers asked me to come back so they can fix it another day. I wasn’t able to come during the requested time and was mortified at the thought of going to work the next day looking the way I did. They quickly tried to fix it in the time they had left which I truly appreciate. I asked them to use a color as dark as the bottom of my hair or darker. The bottom half of my hair isn’t necessarily ash brown but it’s more neutral than the color they chose. Once the color began to develop I saw it had a lot of red undertones. They washed it out and it came out red/auburn with hot roots. So now the top half of my head is lighter red auburn and the bottom is ashy dark brown.
I am disappointed and embarrassed with my hair.

The instructors are very good at Hoss Lee and closely monitor the student when working on patrons. I have referred my friends to Hoss Lee Academy and I will be back.

The teachers are excellent. The student doing my haircut needed guidance when she was doing her work on me. I was surprised she said she would be graduating next month because she didn’t really seem prepared, but that’s my personal opinion. The staff are friendly and scheduling is easy. It’s really a hit or miss if you get a student who’s “good” or not.

Great experience! Everyone was very nice, professional, and helpful. I got just a haircut and am very happy with the cut. The place was clean and I was in and out in an efficient manner. Definitely worth it :)

The young woman who trimmed my daughter’s hair was very nice, but obviously nervous. When we got home we discovered that my daughter’s hair is uneven.
