My visit to Dr. Zac yesterday was due to a crown popping off last week; they gave me some temporary cement to keep it on over the weekend. Angela said the crown was still good, and if the examination revealed no issues, they would just cement it back on. The examination showed a soft spot, most likely a cavity, so they needed to re-do the tooth and a new crown. My insurance pays 50%, and Angela put me on the in-house insurance which reduced my cost even greater; thanks Angela! Very appreciated especially since I have recently retired and am on a fixed income. They were able to take me in later in the afternoon and begin the crown; practically painless, thank you Dr. Chung. I return in three weeks for the new crown. Another positive experience at Dr. Zac!
I'm not usually the type of customer who makes complaints. I think life's
too short for that sort of thing. I like to get whats needed and walk
I have to get the last visit off my chest..
1) I come in for an exam and cleaning. I just happened to get my benefits
card. The girl at the front (Jenny, I think) runs it and tells me "It
covered you for today" I respond "Oh, so I don't have to pay anything
today?" She says "No, just for today since its partial benefits." I am
relieved! I'm saving some money. Put me in a good mood since its pretty $$$
But, I admit I had a bad feeling that it was too good to be true. (There
was a time before where they told me I didn't have to make any payment but
then OOPS never mind yes I do) Sure enough she calls me back up to the desk
and says "I have to make a collection for your periodontal.." I ask "What?
You said I was covered??" and she says "Yes, but this is your periodontal
maintenance that your medical does not cover.... I can have (Someone higher
up) explain to you if you'd like?"
I said "Yup" (I went from "Oh good, I'm saving some money and its letting a
load off to OH NEVER MIND)
My problem here is, where was the "I'm sorry it turns out that
you're actually due for a periodontal maintenance and your medical does not
actually cover that. I apologize, I know I told you that you were covered
but appears not.."
2) So I'm taken and given my xrays then walked over to my room. The lady
(Angela, I think) walks in and starts going over the details on why I have
to cough up cash. She says pretty much what the desk girl said about it
being a periodontal maintenance. (My real issue is that the desk girl said
one thing and then another. It can be pretty irritating) So I begin to tell
her (Calmly and respectfully) "But she told me I was covered first, and
charging the next" and then she goes off (This is what really stuck with
me. This lady's rude attitude. Raising her voice) "SIR! YOU are on a
periodontal maintenance! etc." (After this I was struck by her attitude. I
should be giving the attitude. But held back) as I respond by explaining
how it doesn't seem right by telling somebody one thing and then another
she goes off again "SIR!! YOU HAVE GUM DISEASE etc." (BTW nobody has
verbally ever told me I have gum disease there. I was pretty shocked)
This is the part where I felt really disrespected. As she was on the
computer writing notes I asked a question. (I don't remember the question)
She laughed she giggled as if what I asked was a stupid question. (Maybe
it was, but you don't laugh at your customers) I said "Don't laugh.." She
responds by saying she wasn't but I told her "You giggled" (CLOSE ENOUGH)
After that (Verner, I think. I apologize if I got that wrong) came in to
take me to get my cleaning. I asked him "Who is she? I don't ever want her
speaking to me again" He went on to say that I'd only speak with him. He's
been there since day one and I prefer it that way.
In the end.. I took my periodontal maintenance and once again gave you guys
my money (Even though I felt like walking out) because I care about my
teeth. I've had a lot of work done there and put in a lot of money already
I don't want to have to walk away.
Even though I would have appreciated the front desk girl being more clear
that she actually made a mistake and apologize for acting like my medical
covered me but didn't cover anything, I'm not looking for an apology.
Even though I would have appreciated that rude woman (Angie, maybe?) not
give me attitude and not make me consider breaking my cool and going off on
her, I'm not looking for an apology.
It's a simple heads up. This is what occurred and it stuck with me.
Ultimately, I don't ever want to be told one thing and then another again.
I don't want to be told "Hey, you're not paying, wait... yes you are!" You
guys are pretty upfront about the $$$$ details. Shouldn't be an issue.
It was a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and helpful.
I have been going to Dr Zak's family dentistry for many years now and can't say enough about the wonderful friendly staff and the excellent treatment I have received in the Simi Valley office.
Dr Zak Family Dentistry is very professional and polite to their patients. I have a lot of dentist work to go but very satisfied with the work so far. And I was pleased that I can work out a payment plan, too.
I was very impressed with my first appointment, the staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming, I didn't have any work done, only x-rays, everything needing to be done was explained in detail, so far I'm a happy camper. I will let you know more after I have some work done, I don't anticipate any thing less then than the above.....
I came from another dentist and was reluctant after so many bad experiences.
I LOVE this office. The staff from the front desk to the back office are ALL very helpful. AND the hygienist is really great. I actually got a cleaning, she really took her time cleaning my teeth. She made me feel important, like even with bad teeth my teeth mattered. LOVE my dentist, he had some work to do and my teeth look amazing. I have to go back and get a 4 tooth crown and I am actually looking forward to it! With the work they have done so far, you would never know I smoke and drink coffee. My teeth look amazing! I cant say enough good stuff about this office. Please see for yourselves!!
Very friendly and professional staff!
Had my 1st appointment at Dr. Zak, after full mouth x-rays met with the treatment coordinator along with a dentist who both went over my x-rays and explained thoroughly in detail which procedures needed to be done. They both answered all and any questions I had. The staff were all very friendly. I was very impressed with my appointment and will learn even more after I have the needed work done, based on my experience thus far, I expect only continued satisfaction beyond others I have had else where.....
Very positive experience
They have a great team and I have a good service from all of them.
