Satisfied with Facial 100% dissatisfied with Hair
Brown Aveda Institute - Rocky River

I always go to Brown Aveda for a facial. I love their facials so there are no complaints regarding this service. However I decided to be adventrous and get my hair done, I was extremly dissatisified. The sylist that I had didn't know how to do relaxed hair, and I was told that all stylist are trained in all different hair types. She tired to curl my hair and it was still wet and she put way to much product in my hair and the thing that I found the most distrubing was that she didn't even completely clean my hair when she washed it. When I expressed this to the instrutor she didn't do anything nor did she say anything.

The two girls that worked with me (cutting hair and Manicure) were delightful. They both listened to what I wanted and got pretty close to what I expected.

Heather colored and styled my hair. I have to say this is the best hair cor I've ever had. I also really like the way she stayed my hair. I'm so pleased with the results .

My experience was very professional , and very warm and personal . Everybody was very nice. My stylist was very helpful in helping me decide on a haircut to get. She was very helpful on the products to use for my thin fine hair. I'm looking forward to my next haircut .

It's a great deal, and the student did a good job, but she lacked confidence in her work, seemed very distracted and was also very shy. I was there for nearly 2 hours and she hardly said a word, was constantly looking around as she was cutting my hair, and just did not seem interested in being there. I was quite pleased with the cut, but the process took very long, and I feel it was due to the student's lack of interest. While I am aware that these are students in training, most seemed very happy to be there and took pride in their work, something I wish I saw in the student that cut my hair. Though overall, I was happy with the results and will definitely be back.

I could not tell if this was supposed to be a school teaching young professionals or high school. I wasn't expecting much, and I'm glad my standards were low. I just went in for a mani and it took two hours. I was excited to get an almost graduating student. I was shocked, through the process that she was almost done with her schooling because I would've expected her to have been much more skilled. My cuticles are a mess and my nail polish only made it on 2/3rds of my nails. She was pleasant, nice to talk to and she did keep asking how I liked everything. Finally, after having her fix things I pointed out, it didn't get better and I gave up. The worst part, sitting and listening to the rest of the students that were not busy mess around. It was towards the end of the day and they were cleaning up. I understand wanting to go home, but I was bumped, brushed up against, asked to move as they were bringing in dirty equipment to be cleaned and to mop the floors. (Don't worry after I looked down the floor was still dirty.) I felt like I was in recess hearing the students complain, yell and gossip. They have classrooms there, so I don't understand why they couldn't go back in there for play time. I don't know if there is a class on how to act professional, but there should be. It's amazing that these students think they are going to graduate and land a job at a nice spa or salon where people who will pay good money for services aren't going to want to hear about your latest drama in life in a unclean facility. You're not going to get far in your career. People who act professional and care about the quality of work they do could leave with a good client base. We all know if you really like someone you will follow them where they go even if you're not supposed to know where they left to. It isn't worth the discount in price to go there.

Well....The young lady that I was assigned to do my hair was nice. However, six hours for a haircut is just ridiculous. The girl doing my hair had never done African American hair and was super discouraged. One of her fellow classmates, Jonte came to the rescue. Jonte was not the student assigned to me, but she rocked!!!! She stepped in and helped the person assigned to me, finish my style. She actually flat ironed and styled my hair. I can not give five stars, because of the amount of time, that I spend there just for a haircut, but the girls were pretty awesome! I am debating on rather, I should go back because of the long wait. Aja and I think Tasha( pink hair educator), were pretty awesome as well.I really wish I had the patience to come back. I would definitely go to Jonte. Jonte will be a rockstar in the Cosmetology world!

Tiffany was fantastic. She was energetic, attentive, and very personable, even at the end of a long day (I was a 5 pm highlight). And I absolutely love my hairI Students like Tiffany are the reason that I keep coming back to the Brown Aveda Institute.
