I would rate my haircut as above average. I have frequently had to return for a "re-cut" in the past ~ but I am pleased with the cut this time. I did not expect to spend 2 hours and 50 minutes getting a haircut, though. Knock off 20 minutes for the consultation and shampoo/massage ~ and that is 2 hours and 30 minutes ~ still WAY too long to be sitting in the chair. I've been going to Brown Aveda for years ~ and have never had a haircut take that long ~ even with new students. I suppose I shouldn't complain ~ as I don't have to come back for a "re-cut".
I always go to Brown Aveda for a facial. I love their facials so there are no complaints regarding this service. However I decided to be adventrous and get my hair done, I was extremly dissatisified. The sylist that I had didn't know how to do relaxed hair, and I was told that all stylist are trained in all different hair types. She tired to curl my hair and it was still wet and she put way to much product in my hair and the thing that I found the most distrubing was that she didn't even completely clean my hair when she washed it. When I expressed this to the instrutor she didn't do anything nor did she say anything.
I usually love coming to Brown Aveda. I like to interact with the students and I love the quality of the services for the money I spend. I have been going since they opened the Rocky River location. I really feel like this is a hidden gem.
This past time I was not impressed. People were graduating and I felt like it was really distracting, not only to my stylist, but to a lot of the students. I was left at the shampoo station so that hugs could be given and everyone only talked about the girl that was leaving. All my stylist talked about was how she wanted to get out of there and only had x amount of days left. For as quickly as she wanted to leave, she kept me there for a really long time. It took over 3 hours for a simple haircut. By the time I was finished, my butt hurt from sitting so long.
Usually there is one or two instructors that come over to check and they all make sure to check that the style I am looking for is the one that I am getting. This time there were 4 different instructors at different points in the 3+ hour long process and only one of them came back a second time. Only the very first instructor actually looked at my reference picture and the others relied entirely on what the student told them. I didn't leave with the haircut that I wanted, in fact, the first instructor advised that we want to avoid looking like a "dutch boy," and that is the exact haircut I left with. I am not happy at all and have an appointment with anotherl salon to fix it.
I cannot be sure if it was just an off day for everyone because of the upcoming graduations, if my stylist isn't suited for cutting fine straight hair or if the actual process has gone down-hill entirely since my last visit. I am not sure that I will be going back anytime soon. This visit was so frustrating and disappointing to me.
I didn't have an appointment, but the staff was very accommodating and fit me in. Monica was friendly and personable and gave me a very professional looking manicure.
Nicole did a excellent job on cutting my hair.
I found my service at Aveda Institute to be quite refreshing. I had a massage peel and it left my face looking radiant!
I plan on getting this treatment at least twice a month.
I have been a client of Brown Aveda Academy for several years when I have the 2 plus hours to spend on a haircut. Usually I am very patient wilth the student as I don't want to discourage anyone. This time however, I dont feel the student was ready to be in the clinic working on the public. The instructor had to repeat how the fingers should have been held, but he constantly would return to the improper method. I even reminded him once, but was ignored. I had to point out to him that he never cut my bangs or the top of my hair, He did even out my bangs, but argued that he did cut the amount of hair I requested, he did not. Fortunately, my hair turned out nice, as the instructor finally went through it and removed a considerable amount. He was unable to put rollers in my hair and when I sensed that he was frustrated, I just asked him to blow out my hair. I am not a beautition, but am able to set my hair in 1" rollers, even after my cut yesterday..
He was a very personable young man and gave me a great shampoo and hand massage. I feel it is the academy's fault in not being sure that a student is ready to work with the public.
Great cut and style! She listened to my request and feedback and it turned out great!
I would not come back for a pedicure. It felt rushed and not professional like it feels when you get a massage there. Just a completely different vibe. Feet were bleeding because she exfoliated too much. Polish looked bad and it's already chipped.
My best pedicure at the school in a long time. I had stopped coming as I felt there was no interest in doing a good job. Yesterday was a much better experience.
Student was good, but product burn my skin. Today I am still dealing with redness and discomfort
My pedicure was amazing. My feet were so soft and pretty when she was done.
