      <title>Yesterday's Root Canal</title>

      <description>I went in for a root canal and am EXTREMELY upset. Nobody told me that I was going to need an $800 crown in additional to the $1050 root canal. The person at the front desk said, "I don't know why that wasn't discussed with you....". really? REALLY??? I would have just had the tooth pulled! I feel very cheated and I hope your employees aren't pressured to be dishonest. Every time I go in, it's another $100. I scheduled a cleaning for my husband and I--I was told it would be for a cleaning--only to find out that it was so the dentist could DECIDE what type of cleaning I would need. Probably something more than what my insurance will cover. I can tell you now, that appointment will be canceled. Now, needing a crown that I didn't know about, you have me by the neck to spend more money. After this is over, I will never go back and I WILL spread the word about how you cheat people.</description>

      <description>In a medical/dental setting,usually when you are a self-pay patient,and you are going to be provided a service,It makes sense that you would ask what the fee for self-pay patient would be for one tooth removal,prior to my husbands visit,the office called us to see if we wanted to get in any earlier,we took first available due to cancellation,so when i made the appt i asked what the fee would be was told self-pay tooth removal patient fee is $230.I asked if that included EVERYTHING&gt;i was told YES.When the office called to switch the dates of the appt.i re-verified the fee.because like most people we are on a budget.again i was told $230 NO ADD'l fees.(So that is 2x i was quoted the fee)We get to the appt on March 30.Paid the $230 fee.and my husband was put in the chair. Recieved a panoramic X-ray.then the nurse comes in and tells him it will be an add'l $150 for the panoramic Xray and ANOTHER $100 for the surgeons consultation.I had stepped out of the office with our baby for about 20 min I get back and the office manager tells me it will be an add'l $80.I of course asked why &amp; told her what the front desk had told me.So basically the nurse told my husband one thing(I could not speak to him cause he was already being prepped for surgery)&amp; I didnt find out the prices they told him till he was out of the chair with a bleeding mouth.The only explanation your office manager gave me was and i quote"Oh the front desk arent supposed to quote you a price"So i had to pay the xtra $80 given no choice but to do so which left us without gas money for the rest of the week.In what world does a front desk person not know a price to tell a cash paying patient?!!! why was my husband told one thing &amp; I another???This is an unacceptable way of doing business and i am making SURE I tell EVERYONE Icome in contact with NOT to choose Dentaland for their Dental needs.Does the office manager just make up the prices because when we were there the week before...we were told u accepted medicaid HMO/mcna.I called in the am and did not come in til the afternoon which gave them PLENTY of time to figure this out &amp; verify a fee schedule.So your office manager tells me "oh we wont get paid for that first visit"Is that my fault? I was forthcoming about the kind of ins it was from the get go.Where we being judged cause it was a medicaid HMO?WHY were we quoted two different prices once we had already paid and my husband was just about to get his tooth pulled??Would you want your family treated this way???Hopefully they will never have to be. DISGUSTED with Dentaland.

      <description>I went for braces for my son and they only put the upper ones on. Not the bottom ones. And since the ortho only comes in 2x a month, we have to wait 2 months to get the bottom ones on. That is crazy and unprofessional. His twin needs braces and so will my other 3 kids, but I will chose another dentist for them. Also took my 5 year old there yesterday and we have to wait until August for 3 cavities to get filled. That's months away! Not very good service. I will let others know about this.</description>

I've been to four appointments and received four different treatment plans with different prices. I'll be looking for a new dentist. I just can't trust what they're telling me when it changes everytime i visit the office. It wasn't just me either. It was the same with a couple of co-workers of mine with the same insurance plan.       <description>The following complaint was sent to my insurance provider this morning.  I have requested a change in dental providers and rate my experence as less than one star:

Good morning,
I am a new customer as of 1/1/2013 because my group insurance changed.  I selected DentalLand, Melbourne Florida as my PCD, primarily because it was close and I was unsure of who might be best.  I have now been to the Palm Bay Road office 3 times and I am simply appalled.  Not only does the office use an open bay design, where patients overhear the details of other people's dental treatment, but also, since this company prefers to discuss financial issues in the dental chairs, a great deal about their personal finance.  
As a part of my work with Devereux FL (My employer who provides the dental group insurance) I deal with HIPPA every day.  Overhearing social security numbers and dates of birth is not something I want to have happen in my dentist's office.
The last straw this morning was when I went in for a procedure requiring an oral surgeon.  We discussed treatment options, then a gentleman came in and asked me to pay in advance by giving him my credit card to take to another office.  This procedure was not used in my two previous visits and I found it hightly irregular so I cancelled the appointment and left the office.  I do NOT intend to go back.  I immediately changed my PCD when I got home.  There are only a few in my area and I hope the next one is a vast improvement.
Please understand, I have no complaint about any dentist I have seen at DentalLand.  I do have a very large concern about the company, how they do business, and their total lack of maintaining customer confidentiality.  I am hopeful this observation will be taken into serious consideration and addressed by Aetna in ongoing dialogue with DentalLand as a provider agency.
