She did not seem to take interest in my case and because of that did not provide me with any relief to an ongoing problem. I was going to look for another practice, but was placed with Dr. Oliver. Although there had not been enough allotted time for my scheduled visit, Dr. Oliver spent over an hour with me, giving me a full re-evaluation and discovered that my prescription had been wrong possibly since my visit last July 2012 and had caused the ongoing eye discomfort and pain. His experience is invaluable to your practice and I hope that Dr. Mcconville can learn from this physician that not every patient will fit into her EMR system's diagnosis program. Sometimes you just have to get back to basics and spend some time looking through textbooks to help patients. Because of Dr. Oliver I will be staying with Cassey optical. The person helping my daughter with selecting her glasses was AWESOME!!! You can tell that she is used to servicing children and really helped my daughter feel comfortable. She did not rush us. The receptionist (the one on the right side by the glass cleaners) on the other hand, could use a little help with being friendly and courteous to the customers. I felt like I was asking her for a favor by being there. I am not sure if this is due to the fact that I had other children with me or what. This is unfortunate because the practice advertises that they are children friendly. If the rest of the staff was like her, I would not return to this place again. But thankfully, the doctors and the rest of the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Should the student be in the room with the doctor during the exam? I also don't understand why I pay an extra $40 fee for a contacts exam when I didn't even talk about contacts or get a free pair to wear like I usually do. Seems like a sham to get more money. For nearly twenty years it is has been an honor and pleasure to serve as a clinical extern site for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. The patient care aspect of training future Optometrists begins in their first year of Optometry school. Through a series of practicals and ?intern? clinical encounters the students build a wealth and depth of patient care experiences. Only after completing and passing each of the designated and required steps do they become eligible to go on clinical ?external? rotations. Once in our office the ?externs? then spend time observing each of our staff doctors. The externs are then observed, directly being overseen by one of our doctors, perform each portion of the examination. During these phases, extensive discussions occur between the externs and our professional staff as to patient care management and philosophy. Our doctors then review each extern?s progress at regular intervals to determine their readiness to proceed. After each patient encounter the extern reviews the findings of their examination with the doctor. All findings are reviewed and verified by the attending doctor. Some practices use technicians to perform some examination tasks. Our practice utilizes professionals, including externs, to provide all patient care. All patients have the choice to join us in helping train these young professionals. If you prefer not to have the externs involved please inform the receptionist when scheduling your appointment, upon arrival, or even when the examination begins.
