Every time I called Louetta I was greeted by a very friendly voice. Most of my conversations were with Glen who was very helpful & answered all my questions. I was amazed when he asked if I wanted them to come pick the truck up at no charge. That worked out great since it is very hard for me to get away from work to have taken care of getting the van serviced. After I got all the information back to my boss, I called Glen back to let him know that the boss approved, he asked if I would like it serviced that day, I said yes if they had an opening. The young man Glen sent out (Tim) was very professional, friendly & arrived just after noon. Glen called me when the truck arrived & again once the oil change was done. He informed me that the inspection was due & that new wiper blades were required in order to pass. I told him to please put the new blades on & do the inspection. I received a call a short time later stating that the noise was dominating from the differential and it would have to be rebuilt. The cost was to be $1615 for the rebuild. I declined to have the service performed and took the truck to another mechanic who listened and said the sound was definitely not coming from the differential, which was in the back of the truck, as the sound was coming from the front of the truck. It turned out that the problem was eight the front passenger bearing, which made the whirring sound simply by spinning it by hand. We replaced both front bearings for good measure, as they are the same age. The noise did not go away completely, but he told me it was most likely tire noise. The front tires are wearing unevenly and are starting to cup. So a tire rotation should help eight the noise and then an alignment to fix the tire wear issue. The $350 I spent with him to replace the front bearings and receive the other advice was much more palatable than the $1600 for a rebuilt differential that it appears I didn't need (the differential was low on oil and took a half quart to top off - which means they didn't even open the differential to diagnose the problem). It appears from my last few visits that if the computer can't tell them what's wrong, they aren't very skilled at troubleshooting. They also want to charge an arm and a leg for every service beyond maintenance which is to help pay for the shiny new buildings all over the place. I have a friend that recently put a new rear end in an older model of my truck for $900. So the $1600 was way off the mark for the work required.
