A few months ago I was facing expensive diagnostics for my dog. My own vet at a very expensive animal hospital whispered that I should go to Pearson Animal Hospital, which was the second such reference I'd heard in less than a month. So I went to Pearson, where the diagnostics were performed at a fraction (about 1/4) of the cost originally quoted at my expensive vet's office. As a result of the savings I was able to request more diagnostics for my own personal peace of mind. But Pearson's diagnosis was correct from the beginning. Since then I have come to love Pearson Animal Hospital. I consider myself a refugee from a high-priced up-selling veterinary clinic in Encinitas. I grew tired of walking out of a vet's office spending $400 for nothing. At Pearson I go in at my convenience (no worrying about being early or late for an appointment), and I get my questions answered. I know by now that she doesn't recommend diagnostics unless she NEEDS them to make a diagnosis. (Doctors don't have a magic crystal ball and they do sometimes need diagnostics.) At Pearson, there's no upselling, no unnecessary diagnostics, no fake fawning over my pet. Other animal hospitals in Encinitas spend half your time fawning over your pet with a lot of fake love that turns a 15 minute inquiry into an exhausting 45 minute appointment. Well you are paying for all that fake love. Every minute of it. Pearson Animal Hospital is a HOSPITAL and it feels like that- not a hotel. If you need concise MEDICAL care, this is the place to go. If you want a warm hug, flattery and lots of upselling, you're welcome to pay four times as much at any of a dozen clinics in Encinitas who are more than happy to charge you hundreds of dollars extra for it. I have owned literally dozens of animals (from hedgehogs to horses) over the last 50 years and I can tell you that it doesn't get better than this. If you can't afford Pearsons Animal Hospital then you can't afford an animal. I recommend this place to everyone now. If you're a novice pet owner, make that clear; and if you need more advice, ask for it.

Problems on several fronts: 1) was not informed that the appointment for my dog would require at least 1.5 hours; this should have been stated when I made the appt by phone so I could prepare or could refuse to schedule; 2) intake was inadequate-only 1 staff at a table out front. Needed two to serve all the customers waiting. 3) Vet (Dr. Ramsey) should have telephone at the beginning of his visit with my dog, not the end of the visit. If at the begiining, I could have provided much more detail than was recorded at intake. Very frustrated by this. 4) the plan for my dog was for multiple tests (urine, blood, x-ray) and the recommendation should have been step-wise. That is, urine test first to rule out urinary infection, if negative complete a blood test, if that is negative consider x-ray. Instead, Dr. Ramsey recommended all tests at once for a exorbitant price of almost $700. It felt like a money-making scheme. After waiting over 2 hours for this inadequate and frustrating appointment, I am very disappointed in the care and service provided by Pearson Animal Hospital.

What I like about Dr. Pearson is that she is so professional, kind yet direct and to the point. She gives it to you straight. She answered all my questions and told us about all the options without trying to have us pay for expensive procedures or keeping our pet overnight that would not change the outcome, like other vets in the past. Unfortunately for us it was bad news and we had to say goodbye to our kitty after 15 1/2 years. The office called us and helped us decide how we were going to say goodbye. There were many options available and even gave us information which did not include their own hospital. They were more concerned with our feelings and wanted us to have the best outcome possible. We decided to go ahead and use Pearson's. Our family was given all the time we needed to say goodbye. Also I would like to add that during this time of CO-VID19, we were very impressed at how the staff kept everyone safe with their new protocols.

We are very frustrated. We ordered interceptor plus on line and were told our dog needed a heartworm test. We got the test done on November 24th and were told we needed to reorder. We did that and again your pharmacy refused our order because of lack of required test. You need to communicate with your pharmacy when you complete a required test. We are now stuck in a Catch 22 and we hope you will fix this.
