This is easy. Told my friend that I just had the best healthcare delivery experience ever, and she asked what I meant. I replied:
"As for the eye doctor, it's an Angie's List success story. My insurance provides a network, and I looked up the closest 5-6 providers. Birmingham Vision Care (two miles away) got all A's and many, many glowing reviews. Made an appointment, finally getting my three-year-old vision script updated. The sweetheart optometrist, a married 30-something UMich grad with a nine-month-old son:
- Explained to me why the prescription Patanol and Optivar drops I've been using for many years were wrong for me, and gave me scripts for OTC Refresh Liquigel and Zaditor drops, which are right for me.
- Prescribed ProOmega fish oil ("Supports a Healthy Brain and Eyes" according to the label), and explained why Costco's variety -- which I had fallen down on taking anyway, bad me! -- was suspect. (Gave me samples and suggested I shop around for the best price.)
- Prescribed OCuSoft lid scrub, a quick and easy way (30 seconds at the end of a shower) to handle my blepharitis-related need to keep my eyes clean, which I also had fallen down on given the hassle it used to be. One $10 bottle lasts six months.
"The receptionist, optical technician, optician and cashier also were all similarly knowledgeable, responsive, courteous and efficient. All in all, just an outstanding (if also a wearing, two-hour) experience, and I was very happy to tell them so (but without the parenthetical)."
In sum: Nice work!

I love this office. The front desk staff is always courteous. The staff that helps you find just the right pair of glasses are helpful and patient. Dr. Poma always takes her time, talks with me and answers my questions. I'm terrible with names but it's nice to see the same faces every year. I also like that my 6 year old does not have to have his eyes dilated to get an exam, totally worth the extra cost!

I've been going to Birmingham Vision care for over 20 years, and overall they're great.
My one complaint is that billing always seems to be a chore. Every time I check out I feel that they're very confused, and I always leave doubting that everything was actually processed correctly.

Lost my contact down the drain. When I called on Friday morning (sat on hold for a bit too long), Kim was a whiz. Several phone updates later, she had arranged to have the replacement made and sent out the same day, to be delivered on Saturday. Remarkable!

Recommended by friend and longtime patient. Courteous and professional staff. Drs really care about patients. Was so impressed that I suggested other family members make appts and they were just as satisfied. Ordered glasses took longer than expected due to labs making lens with defects but Vision Care's staff kept me up to date on expected arrival. Highly recommend.
