Took my car in for state inspection to sell it. Mechanic failed it and quoted a $600 repair bill. I refused and as I was leaving, the mechanic offered to buy it. I took it immediately to another shop who passed the state inspection with flying colors. So I think that was the, "Scare the customer with a massive repair bill to hopefully get a lower sale price in buying the car out from under her" offer. Will absolutely not do business with them. That's as unethical as it gets.
