This is my fourth or fifth time at Aveda, and it gets better each time. I love to free "spa treatment". I like the neck and shoulder massage
I have been to Aveda a few times, & during free model haircuts I will go in for highlights and a cut ..etc. The other day I made an appointment with my usual hairdresser. She bent over backwards for me,.. (I only have a small window of time throughout my work schedule) and she made this past week work well with one day a hair cut& style,.. and 2 days later with an amazing hair color... my hair turned out great. BUT,... as I was on my way out I went to the front desk to pay..so when the girl there told me the amount was $85, I pulled out my 50% off card(*which was valid and not expired) that my boyfriend recieved last year at his job by a client ...he in turn gave me the card since Im the one who gets my hair done & he already has a barber..somehow this raised a HUGE problem, the girl at the front desk stated that only friends & family of the employees there could use it... (so i then asked if it even states that on the card)since she seemed so clearly convinced that I was not of which, and she said it does, at which point she did not return my card to me,..never the less I was scammed and it ruined my day on my way to work.
I had an appointment at 8 am to get my hair done before a wedding at noon. The service I received was terrible. They completely dried out with hair spray. It took two girls to straighten my hair (my hair is naturally pretty straight) and I was almost late for the wedding. Also I had a braid put in my hair that I had to undo and just redo myself right before I was about to walk down the isle. All my hair kept falling in front of my face. My hair was dried out and just brittle feeling until I washed it again myself. I don't know what products were used but they were awful. Never going to this place again. I also got a free facial and it made the skin above my eyebrow all red and itchy...
First hair cut was with a senior student. I would have followed her to a salon except she moved out of state.
Kept returning in hopes of finding another great stylist. Finally realized my initial experience was a fluke.
Several times, the stylist I had an appt. with never showed up, so after waiting round for an hour I went with whatever student was available. Poor plan.
The last stylist was so inexperienced and inept that she fussed around with the hair at my neckline for over an hour. Finally, her instructor did a quick thinning to "demonstrate" a technique and that was that.
I now pay about twice what Aveda charges, but it takes less than a third of the time and the cut lasts twice as long.
I get a dynamite haircut every time and, as an added bonus, the she actually shows up for appts.
When I arrived everyone was very friendly and courteous. I was offered beverages and snacks. I waited maybe 5 minutes, before my stylist introduced herself to me. She was very professional and attentive to what I wanted in a hairstyle. My hair was very long and naturally curly, so it can be hard to handle, but Erin was great! My haircut looked amazing and I felt like a new person! Plus you cannot beat the low prices for haircuts! I will definitely return for my 8 week followup. :)
I've been going to the Aveda Institute for nearly three years and have never had a bad experience. Of course some students aren't quite as skilled as others. But generally, it's amazing value for money! About half or less than you'd pay at an Aveda salon!
I have had a wonderful experience at Aveda in my 3 appointments there! My stylist is Lindsay and she is fantastic -- friendly, professional, informative, and very highly skilled. Looking forward to my next visit!
Don't trust them with anything more than a simple trim.
I read all the reviews, should have realized. Appt was with senior level student, graduating in three days. I told her that I don't style or blow dry my hair and that my cut needed to have a nice shape without styling, just wash n wear. First thing she does is blow-dry my hair out after the wash until it's completely smooth and round. Big mistake: I didn't speak up. Previous haircuts I've had with real stylists, when I tell them I wash n wear, they don't blow dry so they can see how it's really going to lay without styling. This girl, Tore, didn't know how to do anything except proceed with the standard procedure. She didn't know how to respond to my request of wash n wear. When the cut was finished it looked ok (not great, the layering was uneven and left 'dents' in the back of my head) but when I got home and washed it and let it air-dry like I usually do, weird pieces stick out everywhere and it looks awful. She was inexperienced in other ways too. For example, she didn't plan for the fact that when you cut wet hair (she did a rough cut before drying), it always springs up a little and appears shorter when it dries. So when I asked for long face framing pieces that weren't shorter than my jaw line, they ended up in my eyes.
My mother and I had a truly relaxing time with 4 lovely, competent students, Mary, Brittany, Ashli and Brittney. We went to celebrate Mom's 83rd birthday. It was a great choice! We both fell asleep during our facials! And our feet look great! Thank you Aveda for everything!
Great service and great prices. Will definitely return and refer friends.
I've been a client for 4 yrs, and have been satisfied with the care I've received, but the service and cut I received from Lauren Bink on Wed was beyond outstanding. She is very talented, gave me the perfect cut! She will go far in her career!
