A friend recommended Dr. Umeda to me more than 20 years ago, when I moved to Honolulu and I have been with him ever since. I have never had a denist, or any doctor, take the long-view, make a lifelong plan, and then make it happen. When I first started with Dr, Umeda I had just returned from Peace Corps, fresh out of college, two additional years in Micronesia; my teeth were a mess. He stabilized my condition, and every year or so we would replace a worn out filling or fix a cracked tooth, Now, I am set for life. His technique is unlike any other I know of; my old silver fillings are now durable, gold crowns (same size), of impeccable quality and beauty. He takes time to understand his patients as people.

Dr. Umeda is long on preventative health practice and short on drastic measures. My teeth and gums are getting younger with every appointment! I'm about half way through my expected lifespan and, under Dr. U's care, I fully expect all my teeth to complete the journey with me.

Debbie did great job. She is knowledgeable and thorough.

As far as Dr. Umeda mentioning referring people to Dr. Umeda's. I do refer many people. However, Dr. Umeda doesn't accept Delta Dental Rates. The general working population have lost jobs, have experienced cut backs in work hours, even cut backs on their pay. So yes I think that even professionals need to consider lowering their rates to stay in business and to provide a service.

Been seeing Dr. Umeda for over 30 years and as a result, have excellent oral health. I would highly recommend Dr. Umeda if you want a great dentist.

This was my first cleaning with Debbie and she and Chris were excellent. Sorry doc but the girls have a lighter softer touch. LOL

As always, I had a wonderful time visiting dr. Umedas office. All the staff were very sweet and caring. For the first time in my life, I feel that a dentist really cares my teeth are in good health. Wish the services were a little bit cheaper, but it's well worth it.

When Dr. Umeda was scheduled to clean my teeth himself, rather than a dental hygienist, I was a little apprehensive. Actually it was a great thing. When he found a crown was loose, he tightened it, and he was able to give a thorough assessment of my oral health as well as an encouraging remark on my improved dental hygiene. The culminating experience was his observation that my left salivary gland needed to be checked by someone from Dr. Williamson's team because of my sensitivity to his touch. Thanks to Shirley, I was able to see Dr. Haynes the very next day. The office took a "panoramic" digital X-ray, Dr. Haynes examined me as well as it, conferred with Dr. Umeda, and said that he was confident it was nothing. I was glad to convey to Dr. Umeda the findings and to thank him for his concern. Furthermore, the office charged me nothing!

Will Dr. Gary be capping this molar? I have to go back to Dr. Joe on May 29th.
