In my 4-5 experiences with CarTec, they are a very fair repair shop that treats customers as a person, not a number. Good job, I will be back and recommend in the future.
Unfortunately, at this point, I would not like to return to Cartec due to my last encounter. They completed a task on my car that did not need to be done because there was a bigger problem that needed to be fixed in order for the task to work. When I asked for clarification, I was told that is what happens to an older car. I don't believe a leak just appeared in less than a month. I wanted a full refund but would have settled for splitting the cost but no such offer was extended and communication ceased. At this point, I do not trust them and will not return.
They talked me into running steam through the engine/fuel system on an older car I had just bought - $600! Then later, when I was inquiring (Cartec) about replacement of window motor, power steering hose, and some other repair, I did a price comparison and it showed me that they are WAY high on their prices. For example on the window motor: Autozone part: $120 Install fee at car window place: $60-80. Cartec's quote? $400!
We took our car in to have several maintenance jobs done - fluids, etc. We had previously received an estimate from a dealer for $600 for the same work. Unfortunately we did not request an estimate. And Cartec did not offer one. The total was $900. We were shocked. In my opinion, a reputable company will give you an estimate if the work is going to be expensive, whether you ask for one or not. Is $900 not expensive anymore?!?
Great service, friendly people, I like that a person was there early when I dropped off my car. I highly recommend these people to take care of your automotive needs.
We took my sister's car in for an oil leak. She was charged a little over $300 for repairs. Shortly after, I noticed oil under the car. She took it back and they said it was a new problem, a bad head gasket, and it would cost a little over $2,000. We took it to the dealership for a second opinion and it was the oil sending unit that was repaired for $217.
